Vanguard has an exciting opportunity for a Product Owner to lead the charge in delivering an exceptional, best-in-class (responsive, mobile-ready) corporate Intranet (CrewNet). In this role, you will define the intranet and mobile experience for all Vanguard employees. You will shape the roadmap of a large product used by all our employees and drive innovation through data-based decision-making. This means spearheading the strategy and future direction of our intranet, based on which key features will bring the most value to employees. You will identify the current painpoints and future delighters and shape how we transform the intranet into a day-to-day hub, at your desk or on the go. You will set future direction and strategy for how we evolve our mobile capabilities to meet the needs of employees. You'll team up with UX designers and researchers to conduct user testing, and leverage data about the current intranet, to craft the roadmap, ensuring smooth navigation across desktop and mobile platforms. You will own defining best practices and a vision for the employee journey of finding information and getting help, and work with cross-functional stakeholders who provide help and information to bring that vision into reality. The Product Owner for the intranet will design a knowledge management strategy and work with knowledge owners to improve their content to create the best experience to find information on the intranet, on their desktop or mobile. Your knack for prioritization, driving delivery of content improvement, and stakeholder management will be key as we strive to deliver the best-in-class information hub-for desktop and mobile. This person will work closely with the broader employee experience effort, aligning the intranet to the goals and objectives of Vanguards overall experience strategy.

In this role, you will

  • Oversee product management activities for multiple technical products, or one strategic technical product, with cross-divisional impact. Drive the design and continuous improvement of the solution.
  • Lead the prioritization and trade-off of the features that appear on a clear product roadmap-based on business value, user needs, and level of effort. Collaborate with the technical delivery team to build the target state.
  • Influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams to create standard processes that drive meaningful change to the experience. Ensure business outcomes are linked to business case drivers.
  • Lead others in matrix teams to influence key business outcomes across groups.
  • Take input on the business needs from key business partners such as corporate communications, human resources, facilities, and other teams that rely on the intranet to provide content to employees. Balance needs across teams and provide a consolidated roadmap for the enterprise communicate to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Provide guidance and coach technical product teams towards standard processes and learnings. Supervise product teams support of the messaging, communication, and customer outreach, as necessary.
  • Facilitate strong business support through working with team members to promote a consistent approach to decisions/impacts and stakeholder propositions. Drive connection across all appropriate internal and external partners.
  • Bring the outside in by researching best-in-class features of intranets and mobile experiences to help shape the vision of the future intranet on desktop or mobile.
  • Drive change and influence improvement in the experience to find information by implementing content management practices and leading efforts to remove non-value-added content and optimize content that surfaces to employees.
  • Shape how crew find information by defining a knowledge management strategy for the enterprise including content types, recommended technical sources for each type, attributes of quality content, and content management lifecycle to support the content that appears on the intranet.
  • Evaluate features of content management platforms and recommend enterprise approach on which platform(s) creates the best experience across desktop and mobile.
  • Influence and employ a variety of qualitative and quantitative analysis to continually improve the user experience. Use data to drive decisions by monitoring the experience of using the product(s) by different enterprise personas.
  • Engage directly with employees to test hypothesis of the value of new features to influence what is built in the future.
  • Participate in and influence ongoing business planning and departmental prioritization activities.
  • Work closely with the engineering team and drive development of product features and integration with other systems. Be a key member of the enterprise employee experience team, representing the voice of product (Intranet) that is at the heart of the employee's day to day experience.
  • Thought partner and collaborate with colleagues in the employee experience team. Apply experience best practices from change, adoption, design, and research in product design and delivery.

  • Experience as product owner for an enterprise intranet and/or an employee mobile app.
  • Experience with defining and/or applying content management practices.
  • Experience using data from voice of the customer and operational details to understand the experience of the product.
  • Expertise with content management systems preferred - such as AEM, SharePoint, and/or Service Now.
  • Experience leading matrix teams required with experience line managing others preferred.
  • An undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience is required. Graduate degree preferred.
  • Minimum of eight years related business experience. Three years of leading large cross-functional teams on major organizational projects preferred. Previous people-leadership experience strongly preferred.
