Global ComplianceOur division prevents, detects and mitigates compliance, regulatory and reputational risk across the firm and helps to strengthen the firms culture of compliance. Compliance accomplishes these through the firms enterprise-wide compliance risk management program. As an independent control function and part of the firms second line of defense, Compliance assesses the firms compliance, regulatory and reputational risk monitors for compliance with new or amended laws, rules and regulations designs and implements controls, policies, procedures and training conducts independent testing investigates, surveils and monitors for compliance risks and breaches and leads the firms responses to regulatory examinations, audits and inquiries. Youll be part of a team with members from a wide range of academic and professional backgrounds, such as law, accounting, sales, and trading. Goldman Sachs' US Banking Regulatory Engagement team coordinates engagement with the firm's US Banking regulators, including the Federal Reserve Bank, Department of Financial Services, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

The team functions as a regulatory liaison office, fielding inquiries, coordinating throughout our firm, managing examination and internal stakeholder meetings and communication. We strive to enhance our interactions with banking regulators by managing regulatory engagement protocols, regulatory events tracking, communications, and engagement / exam-related reporting.

The team also provides oversight of US Banking-related regulatory remediation throughout our firm, including overseeing the successful execution of remediation plans by establishing and promoting best practices, standardizing processes, and project management to effectively manage milestones, resources, objectives, and status reporting. In your role, you will work with these teammates to ensure our regulatory remediations are informed by regulatory priorities, emerging examination areas of focus and related learnings.

This Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our US Banking Regulatory Engagement team with expertise in financial services regulatory exam management and regulatory relations. In this role, you will be responsible for engaging with regulatory agencies, providing expert guidance on regulatory matters, and ensuring compliance with applicable banking laws and regulations. You will have a front-row seat to how regulatory areas of focus link to the current economic environment, and advise senior stakeholders in the firm's businesses on how to effectively communicate priorities and resolve concerns.

Serve as a key liaison between the bank and regulatory agencies, leveraging your prior expertise in regulatory relations or affairs. Coordinate and support regulatory examinations and audits by leveraging your deep understanding of the regulatory process. Manage both internal and external relationships with senior stakeholders to foster productive, open communication and collaboration. Advise the business on how to communicate core challenges to the regulators and in evolving their strategy to address regulatory priorities. Synthesize complex subject matter to convey regulatory trends to leadership. Proactively prepare the firm for examinations and collaborate with internal stakeholders to address examination findings and recommendations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree
  • Experience in managing regulatory relations or affairs in financial services, preferably including experience with the Federal Reserve and/or OCC
  • Proven track record of successful coordination and management of regulatory examinations
  • Comprehensive knowledge of banking regulations, including but not limited to Basel III, Dodd-Frank Act, Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and Consumer Protection regulations
  • Strong knowledge of industry best practices, emerging compliance risks, and culture-related initiatives
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to assess complex regulatory requirements, identify potential compliance risks, and translate into practical action plans for the firm
  • Sound judgment and decision-making abilities in evaluating risk scenarios
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with regulatory agencies and influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Proven project management skills, including the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Comfortable being independent and a self-starter
  • MS Office proficiency
