be responsible for providing risk management leadership and expertise across the following businesses Commercial Mortgage Servicing (CMS) businesses within Commercial Real Estate (CRE), and the aligned business support groups.
In this role you will
- Provide leadership and coordination for cross platform issues (impacting multiple CRE businesses). Act as the primary point of contact for senior leaders and key partners in CRE businesses, IRM, Wells Fargo Audit, regulators, and other constituents ensure that all inquiries are responded to appropriately and in a timely manner
- Develop a strong working knowledge of the CRE business and other CRE business aligned teams to lead and guide issues with cross business impact through the issues management lifecycle, including issue pre-vetting and identification, intake and root cause analysis, effective corrective action and control design, ongoing progress and project management updates, gathering of artifacts to demonstrate sustainability, and successful validation and closure
- Issue / Incident Management and Loss Capture Assess operational risk incidents using methods such as root cause analysis. Consult with business to develop corrective action plans. Oversee implementation progress and conduct validation efforts as required. Coordinate with business and support partners for creation of Self-Disclosed issues in Issues Management system of record. Record losses in the system of record, as applicable.
- Exams / Reviews Coordinate with internal testing engagements such as Enterprise T&V, Internal audit, and Regulatory exams
- Provide leadership for the Internal Control Program, including direct engagement on uplift of controls and procedures to align to current guidance and expectations and support successful issues management and control validations.
- Provide cutting edge subject matter expertise on control design development to ensure that robust, effective controls are fully documented per FRASA and other bank-wide standards.
- Support ongoing Control Design Effectiveness ratings, assessments and evaluations across risk programs, such as Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA), Enterprise Risk Identification and Assessment (ERIA) and Risk Measurement.
- Continuously engage in strategic initiatives for regulatory, operational risk and technology enhancements to identify and maximize opportunities for control efficiencies and soundness that support our strategic goals and exceed the expectations of our customers.
- Provide risk management and business subject matter expertise on lending, banking and investments issues, and responsibility for leading certain risk programs across CRE, such as Issues Management
- Provide risk management consultation on applicable bank policies, commercial real estate and banking regulations, and related process risks and controls
- Interact with Control team partners aligned to serve CRE segments to foster a standardized, timely, and best practice approach to related risk and control pursuits across the platform
- Consult with business process owners to develop corrective action plans and control redesign
- Oversee implementation progress and conduct control evaluation efforts as required
- Coordinate with business and support partners for creation of Self-Disclosed issues in Issues Management system of record. Record losses in the system of record, as applicable
- As an independent contributor, the candidate will escalate and present risk initiatives to risk councils and committees
- Continuously engage in discussions with LOB partners on strategy, industry trends, organizational changes, and new/modified, systems, products and services, to determine impact and identify and remediate risk and control issues across all risk types
- Control development, projects & platform initiatives Develop strategies to influence process owners, control owners, business sponsors, and key risk partners on the need for additional or improved controls to mitigate risk
- Work with the business and support teams to provide operational risk expertise and consulting for projects and platform initiatives, considering impacts to risk & control framework.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of Risk Management or Control Management experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following work experience, training, military experience, education.
Desired Qualifications
- Working knowledge of Corporate & Investment Banking businesses, its products and services, and relevant risks and controls of the business.
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy used to identify, assess and confidently raise risks and issues, escalate early, and independently engage in constructive credible challenge.
- Highly professional, adaptable and proactive mindset with the ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a fast paced and complex environment.
- Strong influencing skills with the ability to communicate effectively (verbal, written and interpersonal) with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Proven knowledge of and experience with Commercial/Corporate Banking customer service responsibilities.
- Knowledge of Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA).
- Experience with identifying, reporting and assessing Operational Risk Events.
- Experience with Issue Management, root cause analysis, and corrective action development.
