Role Summary
The Markets and Financing Chief Operating Officer will play a critical role in the daily management of all aspects of the Office of the Vice Chair. Reporting directly to the Vice Chair of State Street, the COO will be viewed as a key contributor to strengthening the business management and overall strategy for the Markets and Financing business.
There will be business aspects to this role with appropriate decision making and inputs required for key areas of work. The COO is responsible for all daily support to the organization and its businesses to execute against its strategic and tactical initiatives. The COO serves as the central network for business management across the division globally, providing management support. The COO is also a conduit of information flow to other functions across the bank.
Other Key Responsibilities
- Act as representative / proxy for the Vice Chair on necessary regional and global operating committees.
- Responsible for client planning, visits, presentations, and takeaways/follow-ups
- Lead the execution and strategy frameworks as well as the related key objectives.
- Engage in business level strategy planning, aligning to the overall strategies of the enterprise.
- Oversight of the CAO function, responsible for monitoring the business investment portfolio - overall management of business IT budget, allocation prioritization, ROI achievement (in coordination with CIO and business leaders)
- Support ad hoc, strategic, and tactical efforts by effectively leading projects across multiple areas risk, business strategy, transformation, and cross-functional initiatives.
- Work with senior management to actively identify and implement process changes.
- Key partner in developing a strong risk and control culture across all regions all daily activities associated with improved control frameworks.
- Manage a small team effectively providing a level of mentorship and professional development while driving quality deliverables and attention to detail to all of the team's work products.
- Build strong relationships across the Vice Chair Leadership team and their leads to drive an array of efforts. Key executive in partnering with the business to address red/amber clients in new deal support.
- Work with senior leaders in Finance supporting the overall business reporting
Desired Qualifications
- Demonstrated skills in problem identification and resolution as well as collaborative problem solving in a complex setting required.
- Possesses excellent communications skills with evidence of successful leadership, influence, and administrative / supervisory experience.
- Ability to detect emerging trends and encourage and make recommendations for creative change.
- Results-focused individual with the persistence and patience necessary to work effectively with a variety of internal and external constituents and drive results.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively partner with senior level staff, middle management and support divisions as required to execute the Vice Chair's strategic objectives.
- Possess excellent analytical skills with 15+ years' experience in analytics and / or reporting.
- Exhibited success at applying analytic methods to take on business problems, interpreting data and communicating analytical results to peers and management.
- Possess the ability to create executive and board level material. Requires synthesizing and summarizing of complicated content.
- Experienced project manager with the ability to handle multiple priorities and lead team efforts as necessary.
- Proven leader with effective analytical, interpersonal, written, and oral presentations skills
- Effective at flexing and pivoting be comfortable dealing with various changes and adapting to them.
- Networking ability to find data, insights, and proof points very quickly across the organization with very little direction and synthesize.
- Influence be comfortable working with and influencing senior leaders and executives.
- Multi-task ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, but also be able to focus on the most important deliverables of the moment through proper prioritization.
- Business acumen
- Ability to self-learn and research topics to provide context to matters.
