Role
As the Chief Climate and Sustainability Risk Officer, you will be responsible for leading our efforts in identifying, assessing, and managing climate-related risks across our organization. You will work closely with key stakeholders to develop and implement strategies to address climate-related risks and opportunities. You will also provide governance and oversight, taking a company-wide perspective. You will report to the Chief Risk Officer and be a member of the Risk executive leadership team.
Key responsibilities
Management and lead the climate and sustainability risk team with leadership responsibility over Climate Risk including the Risk
Organization'spolicies,
Design a Sustainability Risk program and keep a watch' on forward looking risk e.g. Nature and Biodiversity Risks.
Responsible for the adaptation and of financial and non-financial risk programs which leads the Enterprisein identifying, assessing, measuring, treating, monitoring and reporting on climate risk.
Collaboration with key stakeholders in the 1LOD, 2LOD and Corporate groups
to ensure appropriate responsibility and accountability for the management of climate risk including the establishment of a broad climate risk database that can be used to satisfy international disclosure requirements and stakeholder inquiries.
Develop a strong relationship with CSISI and provide advice and challenge to the Climate and Sustainability programs across the Enterprise.
Initiation of reporting on transition risk for the credit and investment portfolio which will form part of the Enterprise Transition Plan.
Assist and/or lead in the design and execution of scenario analysis to examine the consequences of climate risk over both the short and long terms in accordance with industry standards.
Keep abreast of climate risk regulatory development, contribute to market consultations and engage with regulatory authorities. Leverage the Enterprise regulatory change framework, ensuring that all relevant regulation is captured and assessed.
Participates in and/or presents to senior management and/or Board committees.
Lead and advise others on climate risk related engagement with global regulators
Establish key Climate Risk metrics and impacts that will influence strategic decision making.
Ensures actions will be taken to maximize preparedness for business continuity events and overall operational resiliency.
Oversees plans and directs the activities for the Climate Risk team, ensuring that business objectives are being met
Participate in governance forums as required, e.g. ESG Disclosure Council, Enterprise Sustainability Council
Skills/ Qualifications
Influences and negotiates, internally and externally, with great latitude on outcomes
Applies in depth knowledge of climate risk regulatory environment with ability to provide long strategic term planning as well as manage the tactical deliverables of the function.
Leadership and organizational skills to direct the activities of the governance bodies overseeing climate risk.
Thorough knowledge of corporate, industry and business unit activities, compliance related requirements and risk mitigation techniques.
Analytical and communication skills to review/approve policies and procedures and to work with line areas to oversee and manage risk activities.
College or university degree and/or relevant proven work experience in Risk Management is preferred. Direct understanding of, and experience with climate risk management is strongly preferred.
Excellent oral and written communication skills along with being able to be highly flexible and adaptable to change.
Climate Risk and/or Sustainability Risk qualification.
