The European Strategic Services department has an opening for a critical leadership role responsible for improving the resiliency of Vanguards European business. We are looking for a Senior Manager within the European Resilience & Governance team to lead a complex team spanning our European business including European Operational Resilience and Business Continuity Management.
Core Responsibilities
- Designing and implementing our European Resilience strategy for each European entity will be the central tenant for this role therefore excellent stakeholder management skills and a proficiency engaging with senior stakeholders is essential.
- The role will hold leadership responsibilities and oversee and maintain the FCA & CBI Operational Resilience guidelines across the European business. It will support in the implementation and own ongoing governance of the European Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA) across the European business.
- This role will also be responsible for Business Contingency Management in Europe and experience in this area is preferred.
- Acts as a regulatory subject matter expert across resiliency related regulations and others as required.
- Hires, evaluates, and supervises crew. Provides guidance and training as necessary to develop crew. Sets performance standards, reviews performance, and makes informed compensation decisions in accordance with all applicable Human Resources policies and procedures.
- Leads the support of business initiatives focused on the implementation of control solutions for a business unit.
- Provides leadership and strategic direction to develop, implement, and manage comprehensive control management programs for the business unit. Supports the development and execution of key control monitoring to evaluate control effectiveness.
- Builds and maintains effective relationships to support the business controls oversight framework. Assists business partners and business units in defining, implementing, and improving local efforts to ensure compliance.
- Leads in the monitoring, reporting, and development of divisional/business control activities. Develops risk metrics, dashboards, and reports that are distributed regularly and can used to identify potential risk mitigation opportunities as well as monitor the effectiveness of risk mitigation activities.
- Maintains awareness of regulatory risk and control topics. Seeks to understand broad industry and Vanguard trends regarding risk and control.
- Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
What it takes
- Minimum of five years related work experience.
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Strong leadership experience is required for this role and a passion for developing team members is a must.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills will be key as this role will face off to senior stakeholders regularly.
- Experience in building and implementing risk & control frameworks across teams specifically in relation to regulatory requirements is also sought after.
