Business Unit Overview
BlackRock Private Equity Partners (PEP) is the Firm's private equity investment solutions group, investing across various private equity strategies, including primary funds, direct co-investments, growth equity and impact. Private Equity Partners has offices in Princeton, New York, Boston, Zrich, London, Singapore, and Hong Kong with total client commitments of more than USD 47 billion across a range of commingled funds and separate accounts for institutional and wealth clients. This position is with BlackRock Private Equity Partners' Investor Relations team based in BlackRock's Princeton, NJ office.
Job Purpose/Background
BlackRock Private Equity Partners' Product Strategy / Investor Relations team is seeking a highly motivated and ambitious individual interested in working in a fast-paced, international environment as a member of a close-knit team in the alternative investment industry. The candidate assumes a multi-faceted role that requires a passion for private equity investments, an entrepreneurial spirit, strong analytical and conceptual skills, flexibility, as well as dedicated client service orientation.
The candidate will be responsible for leading a broad set of activities across investor communications, client service, and business development (with a particular focus on marketing content management), which requires developing a broad understanding of BlackRock Private Equity Partners' business and investment strategies. In fulfilling his/her/their tasks, the position holder will have the opportunity to closely interact with the Private Equity Partners Investment Management team as well as other departments across BlackRock such as the Global Client Businesses, Alternatives Specialist Team, Corporate Communications, Marketing, etc.
Key Responsibilities
Investor Communications
- Opportunity to design and implement a best-in-class client and key internal BlackRock stakeholder communications strategy for the Private Equity Partners business, including but not limited to quarterly fund and investment updates, notifications about new investments and exits, timely private equity market insights pieces/white papers and quarterly market commentaries
Client Service
- Creation of content (in close coordination with other BlackRock Equity Private Markets groups) and key involvement in the organization and execution of client events, including but not limited to Private Equity Partners' annual general meeting (AGM)
- Coordination and leadership in developing market update webcasts with investment professionals for ultimate presentation to existing and prospective clients
- Respond to ad-hoc client market-related requests across any/all of PEP's funds and accounts
Business Development/Marketing
- Private Equity Partners' Product Strategy / Investor Relations team members serve as the subject matter expert during sales process, working alongside the pure sales teams to progress clients through diligence processes
- Lead the global management process of the Private Equity Partners' marketing slide repository with support from broader team
- Prepare content for and when possible, participate in client meetings in close cooperation with the generalist Client Businesses and the specialist alternatives sales group
Knowledge/Experience
- Bachelor's degree
- 5+ years in professions with a strong marketing/communications/content creation angle, ideally with experience in the investment management industry (and alternative investing specifically)
- Full proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
Skills/Competencies
- Established proficiency in writing concise, compelling investment and market-related white papers and commentaries (particularly in private markets)
- Track record of creating creative, new marketing content
- Strong analytical and conceptual skills
- Proven project management/leadership skills
- Strong service orientation
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
- Persuasive and polished oral communication skills
- Team player with strong interpersonal skills
- Demonstrates entrepreneurial spirit and is willing to assume additional responsibilities
