Team Overview
Global Accounting and Product Services (GAAPS) Alternatives Operations supports BlackRock Alternative Investments (BAI). BAI takes a dynamic approach to alternative investments, creating investment vehicles that increasingly capitalize on evolving opportunities in fast-changing markets. We offer clients strategies designed to provide returns with low correlations to the broad equity and bond markets, including private equity, real estate equity and debt, hedge funds of funds, single strategy hedge funds, long-only absolute return strategies, commodities and structured products.
Team Overview
The purpose of the GAAPS Alts Team is to act as the interface between the funds investment professionals, investors, and external contacts, such as accounting outsource providers, auditors, tax professionals, and third party distributors, etc. for BlackRocks alternative funds platform. The GAAPS Alts India Team will focus on contributing by resolving issues and providing product oversight and coordination of Administrators for many of our funds, which can invest in private investments.
Your daily tasks may include
- Ensure a best in class control environment exists internally in an oversight capacity and externally within our 3rd party administrators
- Partner with internal teams who support the same product set, including our portfolio management, legal, tax, product strategy, corporate accounting and finance and all other necessary groups
- Support the business in the successful launch of new products or the liquidation of legacy products at the end of their stated term
- Perform detailed reviews and analysis of key reconciliations (cash, position) and contribute to resolution of breaks.
- Review portfolio P&L in connection with approval of NAVs and remediate outages between internal and external calculations.
- Recalculate management and performance fees, including those with on highwatermarks and hurdles, in connection with NAV reviews and approvals.
- Provide input on annual audited financials in conjunction with the alternative financial reporting group.
- Product management responsibilities including liaising with funds' independent auditors, tax providers and administrators to ensure proper close-out of all open inquiries.
- Support required regulatory filings, such as Form PQR, Form PF, and AIFMD filings.
- Communicate performance results to investors and resolve investors' questions.
- Custom reporting and projects for investor specific needs.
- Group project opportunities related to implementation of new product accounting, operational procedures, and planning / evaluating technology enhancements.
- Support the investment and business team with marketing and product launches
You have
- 5-8 years' of relevant investment / fund accounting or public accounting (audit) work experience, including review experience for at least a portion of that time.
- Bachelors' degree in Accounting (strongly preferred) or Finance. CPA a plus.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
- Proper and effective accounting skills including knowledge of GAAP and financial statements.
- Sound analytical and problem solving skills.
- Solid time management skills.
- Ability to manage projects and team members, work under pressure, and hit deadlines.
- Fluent in Microsoft Office products, emphasis on Excel.
