Role Description

BlackRock is looking to continue its expansion in Greater China with talented individuals who can truly drive the business to the next levels. We are currently looking for an experienced professional with a desire to advance his/her career to take up the role ofAssociate, Fixed Income Trading. The position will be based in Shanghai.

The individual in this role will be part of BlackRock's Global Trading Group and is responsible for trade execution across a variety of onshore China markets, servicing China investment teams. As part of the multi-asset trading team based in Shanghai, the trader will be responsible for all onshore trading and related activities on the desk. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the ability to interact effectively with other traders and portfolio managers, multiple internal groups, and the sell-side, in order to provide best execution, maintenance, and market flow information for investment activities, as well as support the onshore business growth strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute trades across multiple instruments for China primary and secondary markets, including the Stock Exchanges, China interbank rates and credits, money markets as well as derivatives markets.
  • Manage orders and trade flow in a logical, risk-controlled manner with a high sensitivity to fiduciary responsibilities.
  • Analyze market trends daily, provide insight into market activity and disseminate market intelligence and flow information to portfolio management teams
  • Work both independently and with other BlackRock teams to improve workflow and analysis across the trading platform.
  • Apply skills to improve trading performance, look for efficiencies to build best-in-class quantitative and technological solutions.
  • Proactively contribute to the investment process to both reduce transaction costs and identify alpha opportunities.
  • Drive our counterparty relationships and expand existing ones.
  • Handle day-to-day administrative issues to support trading activities and liaison with trading operations.
  • Manage Ad hoc project work.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant subject preferably with quantitative related discipline or experience of conducting empirical research.
  • 3-7 years of relevant Fixed Income trading experience in China onshore market.
  • Strong connection with local market participants regarding both in bond and repo trading.
  • Strong work ethic with high level of self-motivation and excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work proactively with others to resolve and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with high self-assurance, energy and drive.
  • Effective communication skills and demonstrated ability to work with multiple partners and stakeholders in Mainland China, Hong Kong and globally.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision (structured training will be provided).
  • Possess required regulatory licenses.
  • Certain level of understanding of statistical analysis and modelling. Passion for how these techniques may be applied to improve trading implementation.
