Apollo Insurance Solutions Group seeks an Investment Accounting Associate

Director.This

The ideal candidate is a disciplined, self-starter who can organize and resource an ongoing accounting process to consistently provide exceptional service to insurance investment accounting client(s) maintaining standards and controls within a SOC1 and SEC regulated environment.

Immediate specific duties include managing a small team of staff accountants who perform daily cash and transaction reviews for client investment portfolios, identify variances while performing root-cause analysis related to variances and communicate with internal and external stakeholders.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform review of daily holding reconciliations between investment accounting subledgers to custodian records for investment portfolios.
  • Ensure all investment accounting functions are performed in compliance with regulatory and GAAP reporting requirements.
  • Ensure accurate, efficient, and effective processing in accordance to control process.
  • Assist front office and review and analyze data for completeness, validity and reasonableness. Work independently performing research, and/or quantitative analysis.
  • Review inter- and intra-portfolio transfers related to reinsurance requirements.
  • Review manual transactions related to less liquid asset classes such as Alternatives, Bank Loans, Private Placements, etc...
  • Perform compliance reporting as required.
  • Provide ongoing support to internal stakeholders.
  • Review client and internal deliverables.
  • Ability to act as a mentor to other team members as needed

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Accounting

CA is preferred

10+ years of relevant work experience

Experience working in SOC1 and SEC regulated environments

Advanced knowledge of all investment types, especially structured securities

Considered to be a SME that can dive into and quickly resolve any issues/anomalies relating to income,

amortization/accretion,

Performed reviews of several processes and controls to ensure accuracy of financial information and adherence to SOC-1 controls

Excellent communication, organizational, and strong interpersonal skills ability to work across all functions/levels as part of a team ability to mentor and teach staff/senior accountants across all aspects of investment accounting functions (income, controls, analysis/review procedures)
