What is the opportunity?
Debt Capital Markets provides a broad range of fixed income services to domestic and international clients, including corporates, financial institutions, governments and SSAs. The Debt Capital Markets group in Canada is primarily responsible for structuring and marketing public and private debt instruments in both investment grade and high yield.
As an Associate, you will work closely with corporate and investment banking, sales and trading, and derivatives teams as well as with our global DCM partners to achieve optimal execution for our evolving client base.
What will you do?
- Assist in the execution of corporate debt financings and support broad client coverage
- Support client advisory and work collaboratively with Global Investment Banking, Corporate Banking and Global Markets
- Develop and hone transferable analytical skills through direct transaction experience
- Gain exposure and insight into global capital markets
- Assist in the preparation of client presentations and transaction documentation for both deal execution and client coverage efforts
- Provide general support to the debt capital markets group
- Play an important role in training and development of junior analyst resources
- Work directly with senior levels of Canada's largest and fastest growing companies
- Build a long-term career in Capital Markets
What you need to succeed?
Must-haves
- University degree, preferably in business/commerce, economics, STEM or other relevant discipline
- Demonstrated superior track record in academic and professional endeavours
- DCM, investment banking or related experience (minimum 3 to 4-years direct or related experience preferred)
- A self-starter and strong team player with ability to work well in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills financial modeling experience would be desired
- Knowledge of accounting (ability to interpret financial statements) and solid understanding of credit metrics is essential
- Intellectual curiosity with a passion for markets and sound knowledge of the corporate bond markets
- Advanced MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word skills are a must
- High regard for detail and accuracy
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Willingness to work long hours
