What is the opportunity?

The primary objective of the role is to support data management work for the Corporate Banking loan book perform root cause analysis of potential data quality findings, support the business unit in fulfilling data related policy and regulatory requirements and support the design, implementation and enhancement of data quality controls in support of the business unit's data assets.

What will you do?

  • Support the Director in overseeing the design and maintenance of data risk controls contributing to key projects & data initiatives with a goal to embed data risk mitigation and control enhancements.
  • Maintain vigilant visibility of Critical Data Element (CDE) assignment across enterprise and regional regulatory reports and, perform impact analysis to determine potential changes within the business unit.
  • Liaise with the Chief Data Office, Capital Markets Data Management Office and other data management partners to facilitate data lineage, risk/control assessment, metadata and associated data quality monitoring and remediation, documentation and refresh.
  • Support the Director in triaging data quality testing (e.g. transaction testing) requests including source document retrieval, preparing evidence packages and be their delegate when required.
  • Perform and document root cause analysis of potential data quality findings through back-end SQL historical data analysis as well as front-end investigation using the business unit's credit system(s) and, through collaboration with colleagues in the broader department.
  • Propose and document appropriate data quality and reconciliation controls for the business unit's list of CDEs.
  • Attend and represent the business unit at data quality and other governance forums as required with, or on behalf of the Director.
  • Analyze data lineage and control documentation for critical data elements to assist with data quality investigations and control changes.
  • Assist the Director with maintaining the Corporate Banking Lending Data Domain Charter and relevant procedures as required.
  • Assist with regulatory, audit and second line of defense examinations as directed.
  • Assist the Director to prepare and present material to senior management.
  • Work on process and document digitization and automation projects, as required.
  • Collaborate with other data management stakeholders to identify, document and maintain the list of system of records (SORs), authorized provisioning points (APPs), business processes, assets and data quality controls for the business unit in the enterprise data management platform (Collibra).
  • Gain an in-depth understanding of the business unit's systems and processes over time.
  • Collaborate closely, and maintain working relationships, with the Credit Transaction Management (CTM) team, Chief Data Office Shared Data Management Operations (SDMO) team, Capital Markets Data Services (CMDS) team, Report Owners, Data Management Offices, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Assist the Director and Business Management stakeholders with other ad-hoc tasks, as required.

What you need to succeed?

  • University degree in a numerical discipline, IT, business administration.
  • 3-5 years of experience in data risk management or related information technology (IT) field.
  • Capital Markets and/or credit experience preferred.
  • Experience and familiarity with financial products and systems including finance and/or credit risk data.
  • Experience in coding in SQL and machine learning algorithms would be an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Experience in preparation of reports and presentations.
  • General understanding of regulatory reporting, finance and risk business concepts and procedures.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities during busy periods.
