Position Summary
New York Life is excited to offer a dynamic opportunity for a recent graduate to join our team as an Associate Data Analyst. This role is designed for individuals passionate about data management and eager to develop their skills in a real-world setting, particularly in the realm of Generative AI (GenAI). The successful candidate will be involved in helping to build the data supply chain for specific operational and analytical business needs, with a special focus on supporting Gen AI use cases.
Responsibilities
As an Associate Data Analyst, you will
- Work within the AI and Data organization, focusing on the implementation of Gen AI use cases involving structured and unstructured data, and metadata.
- Learn and contribute to the definition and desired outcomes of Gen AI use cases.
- Identify data sources to enable Gen AI use cases, analyze metadata and governance practices.
- Apply data management techniques, including data quality, data governance, labeling / metatagging..
- Monitor and assess data quality, focusing on unstructured, multimodal data, and metadata.
- Develop skills in monitoring Gen AI use case outcomes for quality and bias, and suggest improvements.
- Build relationships with teams across business, technology, and data strategy domains.
- Support the development and maintenance of data governance frameworks, including data policies and standards.
- Participate in Communities of Practice to share ideas and promote a culture of treating data as a valuable asset.
- Stay informed about emerging industry trends and technologies in data management.
Skills and Experience
- Recent graduate with a Bachelor's degree in a science, engineering, or a related field.
- A foundational understanding of AI/ML, analytics, and data science.
- Basic knowledge of data governance and its role in data management.
- Interest in learning Data Management and governance, and DevOps practices, especially in automating data processes.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Exposure to BI/visualization tools like Tableau is a plus.
Education
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI, or a related field. Masters is a plus but not required. This position is a fantastic opportunity for a recent graduate to gain hands-on experience in a leading company, develop professional skills, and contribute to exciting Gen AI initiatives.
