Summary
The Assistant Risk Trader-Mortgage-Backed Securities Desk will work closely with the Mortgage-Backed Securities Product Desk by supporting and facilitating trading and product support functions.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist in product trading efforts by working with counterparties on pricing and set-up of new and secondary offerings.
- Act as a backup trader to assist with trading responsibilities and secondary market execution, providing liquidity for investors as needed.
- Reconciling deal terms and trade information, setting up offerings in the system, updating offerings sheets and internal database with deal records, and working on ad hoc queries with operations, compliance, legal, and other infrastructure partners.
- Assist in communications with financial advisors, helping with product education, trade-related inquiries, and ad hoc requests.
- Abide by all Stifel policies and procedures and be completely aware of and in compliance with all FINRA, TRACE, SEC, and state and federal laws as they relate to the securities industry and the products they work in.
- Assist in maintaining transaction records and work with internal partners to update/develop marketing materials consistent with current regulations.
- A strong level of detail is required to work with complex instruments and time-sensitive transactions.
- Some understanding and experience with general knowledge of the financial industry and fixed-income capital markets.
- Proven experience coordinating and completing assigned tasks independently, accurately, and promptly.
- Results-oriented individual with a proactive and creative approach to problem-solving.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and a team-oriented approach.
Education & Experience
- Minimum Required Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or Business related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum Required 1+ years of experience in the Financial Services industry.
Licenses & Credentials
- Minimum Required SIE, FINRA Series 7 and 63 and must be acquired within two months after hire.
Systems & Technology
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Proficient with Bloomberg.
