an Application Sysadmin
Job Description AND Principal Responsibilities
- This role will have matrix alignment to the Global Technology Organization.
- Experience in supporting Analytics, data warehousing, profitability, Risk/Compliance applications in financial and banking domain.
- Thorough understanding of key business processes and ability to communicate and translate those needs to technical solutions
- Research and solve the data related issues within the environment.
- Work closely with business partners, technical resources and management (Application Managers, Business Analysts, System Analysts and Development teams)
- Evaluate the risks and solutions before taking action, so that action plans are timely, realistic and positive
- Document system process flows and write test scripts for system testing.
- Create automation for repetitive tasks using various tools.
Experience/ Skills
Experience
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or
equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in IT industry in the technical field
- Working knowledge of writing SQL queries and troubleshoot data related issues.
- Flexible in managing competing priorities and objectives.
Ability to work independently as needed
Desired types of skillsets
- Familiarity with Linux Red Hat Administration, troubleshooting and performance tuning
- Familiarity with Microsoft Server Administration, troubleshooting and performance tuning
- Familiarity with Docker/Kubernetes containerization concepts
- Familiarity with Oracle Database administration (Exadata knowledge helpful)
- Familiarity with Azure Cloud computing
- Scripting knowledge in one or more of the following Terraform, Shell, SQL, batch, PowerShell, creation and troubleshooting
- Understand SQL queries, analyze data related issues and identify root cause of issues / defects. Develop and implement performance tuning.
- Perform Network tracing
- Experience working with enterprise monitoring tools like OEM, Catchpoint, Dynatrace
- Experience working with ITIL process of incident/change and problem management skills and enterprise ticketing systems.
- Strong understanding of multi-tier applications. Emphasis on web tier, SSO, SAML
- Work on scheduling tools Ctrl-M, Cron, Windows Task scheduler and able to identify issues with dependent chain.
- Understand and implement F5 load balancer configs and troubleshoot firewall related issues
- Able to work with vendors on support cases and follow up regularly till resolution is found
