What Youll Do

As an Analyst II on the Retirement Plan Design Consulting team, you will have the opportunity to work alongside retirement plan design experts to create innovative solutions that meet the ever-changing needs of Principal's largest clients! In this role you will utilize analytical techniques to create customized projects and reports that enhance plan design understanding, simplify complexities, and aid in decision making for retirement plan sponsors. This role uses Microsoft Excel and Access, VBA, SQL, and SAP Business Objects to pull, organize, analyze, and present data for internal and external reporting. This is an exciting position that drives forward thinking solutions!

Additional responsibilities may include

  • Modeling cost, plan health, and participant outcome impacts when plan design changes occur.
  • Benchmarking analysis on retirement plan design features.
  • Cultivating and maintaining relationships with client services teams to gain ongoing understanding of specific client needs to facilitate delivery of valuable services.
  • Support client retention and new business efforts.

Who You Are

Skills required

  • Bachelors degree in finance, economics, data analytics, statistics, math, actuarial science or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 2+ years related experience.

Successful candidates will have the following

  • Aptitude in programming languages, including SQL and VBA, preferred.
  • Strong Excel background.
  • Requires ability to work independently, good organization, prioritization, customer service, and oral and written communication.
  • Strong problem solving, analytical, and big-picture/conceptual skills.
  • Ability to maintain accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Good oral and written communication skills required.
  • Good interpersonal, customer service, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrates the ability to accept and adapt to a changing environment.
  • Knowledge of spreadsheet and database or similar PC software packages, or the ability to learn, is preferred.
